The 2026/2027 Cardinal Onaiyekan Foundation for Peace (COFP) Fellowship Welcome Dinner has brought together this year’s fellows and a distinguished gathering of peace and justice advocates.
Founder of COFP, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, graced the occasion alongside notable guests, including Sheikh Nuruddeen Muhammad Lemu, OON, Director of Research and Training at the Dawah Institute of Nigeria; Elder Mrs Justina Mike Ngwobia, Executive Director of the Justice, Peace & Reconciliation Movement; and Sir Felix Hassan Hyat, former Minister of Aviation and a Knight of St. Mulumba from Kaduna State.
The evening provided an opportunity for the fellows to interact informally with seasoned leaders who have dedicated decades to promoting interfaith dialogue, peace and justice in Nigeria.
Conversations across generations highlighted the importance of relationships, shared experiences and mutual understanding in building sustainable peace.
As the 2026/2027 fellowship cohort begins its journey, the welcome dinner offered a fitting reminder that peacebuilding starts with relationships—often around a shared table, through dialogue, trust and a shared commitment to a more peaceful society.
