JOS — Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has sworn in three new Commissioners as part of a broader restructuring of the State Executive Council aimed at strengthening governance and improving service delivery.
The new Commissioners are Hon. Ishaku Maren Yobo from Bokkos, Prof. Gloria Samuel from Bassa, and Comr. Prince Miaphen from Qua’an Pan Local Government Areas.
The Commissioners took their oaths of office on Wednesday at the Victoria Gowon Auditorium, New Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Mutfwang said the appointments were necessary to reposition the government and maximise the remaining months of his administration’s first term.
“We were elected to serve the people, and we want to ensure that we maximise the opportunity left at our disposal,” Mutfwang said.
The Governor directed the Secretary to the State Government to release new postings to ministries and ensure proper handover, while announcing plans for further reorganisation of ministries and departments.
He also disclosed that additional appointments, including Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants, would be made to broaden participation in governance.
Mutfwang cautioned against interpreting the changes as a judgment on the performance of former Commissioners, describing them as members of the administration’s larger family.
He urged members of the governing political family to put perceived differences aside and work together for the development of Plateau State.
On security, the Governor described recent attacks in parts of the State as a setback but reaffirmed his administration’s determination to protect lives and property.
“We have the capacity, we have the determination, we have the willingness to secure the people of Plateau State,” he said.
Responding on behalf of the new Commissioners, Hon. Ishaku Maren Yobo expressed appreciation to the Governor for the opportunity to serve and pledged their commitment to the administration’s policy direction.
Yobo assured the people of Plateau State that the new Commissioners would work diligently to add value to governance and improve service delivery in their respective areas of responsibility.
The ceremony was attended by government officials, political leaders, traditional rulers, stakeholders, family members and other dignitaries.
The latest appointments and planned restructuring signal a fresh push by the Mutfwang administration to strengthen its governance structure and accelerate the implementation of its development agenda.
