Plateau Central APC Senatorial Candidate, Chief David Bitrus Barji Kasuwa, has urged the younger generation to embrace purposeful leadership and build on the legacies of past and present leaders, declaring that the time has come for a new generation to take responsibility for the future.

Speaking on Friday, October 30, 2026, at the Ngas Youths Movement Abuja Gala Night and Beauty Pageant, held at the Women Development Centre, opposite the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Abuja, Chief Barji reaffirmed his commitment to the service, progress and collective prosperity of the people of Plateau Central.

Chief Barji arrived at the event alongside the Chairman of the Gala Night and business mogul, Chief Smart Olalekan, Nde Josiah Yilwatda and Barr. Yirvoms Gungtu Ayuba. Their arrival was welcomed with excitement and applause from members of the gathering.

Addressing the audience, the APC flag bearer said his presence also represented the party’s National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, whom he described as a leader carrying forward the tradition of purposeful leadership and service.

He challenged the youths to draw inspiration from the remarkable contributions of former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, GCFR, at the national level, and the former Governor of Benue-Plateau State, Chief Joseph Dechi Gomwalk, popularly known as J.D. Gomwalk, at the state level.

According to him, both leaders established enduring foundations for leadership, development and public service more than five decades ago, legacies that should inspire today’s generation to take responsibility for the future.

He noted that Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is also making his contribution to leadership and national political development, stressing that the younger generation must be prepared to sustain and build upon the achievements of those who came before them.

“Gowon and Gomwalk did it 50 years ago. Nentawe is doing it now, and we will do it too. Our time is now. We must build on what they have laid down and ensure that their legacies are sustained through purposeful leadership and service to our people,” Barji declared.

Speaking from the perspective of youth leadership, Chief Barji reiterated his readiness to provide people-centred representation that prioritises inclusiveness, shared prosperity and the development aspirations of Plateau Central.

He assured the people that issues affecting the senatorial district would receive the attention they deserve, pledging to attract opportunities, promote development and ensure that the constituency benefits meaningfully from the dividends of democracy.

The event also provided an opportunity for Chief Barji and his entourage to demonstrate solidarity with the Ngas Youths Movement Abuja through financial contributions in support of the movement’s activities.

The message from the APC candidate was a call for generational responsibility: that sustainable development requires a younger generation that understands history, honours the sacrifices of its predecessors and is prepared to translate their legacies into meaningful progress.

As the 2027 general elections approach, Chief Barji’s message reinforces his campaign philosophy of purposeful leadership, continuity of good legacies and people-centred representation.
