The Federal University of Education, Pankshin (FUEP), witnessed a moment of celebration and inspiration as the Federal University of Education Pankshin Women Association (FUEPAWA) and the National Association of Women in Universities of Education (NAWIUE) paid a congratulatory visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Noel Nen’man Ndalbeh Wannang, following the appointment of two female Deputy Vice-Chancellors.
The appointments of Prof. Anthonia Chukwu as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) and Prof. Judith Dawulung as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) have been widely hailed as a significant milestone in the University’s commitment to inclusive leadership and gender equity.
Speaking during the visit, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Noel Wannang, charged the newly appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellors to justify the confidence reposed in them through dedication, hard work, and exemplary service. He emphasized that leadership comes with responsibility, reminding them that “to whom much is given, much is expected.” He also encouraged members of FUEPAWA and NAWIUE to continue supporting the University management through prayers and constructive engagement.
On behalf of FUEPAWA, the association’s President, Mrs. Vivian Wannang, commended the Vice-Chancellor for promoting merit-based leadership and creating opportunities for qualified women to serve in key positions. She noted that the appointments have inspired women across the University community and demonstrated that competence and commitment are duly recognized.
Earlier, the Convener of the group, Mrs. Roselyn Yakse, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for what she described as a bold step toward strengthening women’s representation in leadership. She urged the University management to sustain the momentum by providing more opportunities for women in future leadership appointments.
Representing the NAWIUE delegation, the association’s Secretary, Mrs. Grace Gora, congratulated the newly appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellors and thanked the Vice-Chancellor and Governing Council for supporting the appointments, describing the development as a major achievement for women in academia.
Responding on behalf of the recipients, Prof. Anthonia Chukwu expressed profound gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, Governing Council, Senate, and University management for the confidence reposed in them. She reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the University’s vision and delivering on their responsibilities.
Reflecting on the significance of the moment, Prof. Chukwu remarked that “hard work doesn’t kill, but it dignifies,” while appreciating FUEPAWA and NAWIUE for their solidarity and support.
The event concluded on a note of unity and optimism, with the Registrar of the University, Mr. Longtong Yadok, delivering the vote of thanks. He commended the women’s groups for their unwavering support and contributions to promoting harmony and progress within the institution.
