The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Education Pankshin, Professor Noel Wannang, has charged newly inaugurated Students Union Government (SUG) executives to work in unity and harmonize their ideas for greater productivity and sustainable development within the institution.
Professor Wannang gave the charge during the inauguration of the newly elected SUG executives for the 2026/2027 academic session held at the University Auditorium.
The Vice Chancellor congratulated the new student leaders and emphasized that inclusivity and teamwork would promote effective leadership and ensure meaningful contributions toward the progress of the university.
He expressed concern over several abandoned SUG projects scattered across the campus and urged the new executives to develop strategies for their completion. Professor Wannang also identified insecurity within the institution as a major challenge and called on the student leaders to collaborate with management in tackling the menace, assuring them of the administration’s continuous support.
Administering the oath of office, Barrister Laban Daniel Mallo described the oath as a bond of responsibility between the union leaders and the students, stressing that students’ welfare depends largely on the commitment of the elected officials.
Dean of Students Affairs, Professor Danjuma Katkukah Gokum, commended the outgoing executives for sustaining a peaceful academic session and maintaining cordial relations with the university management. He expressed optimism that the new leadership would build on the achievements recorded.
Speaking on behalf of the new executives, the newly elected SUG President, Lohkur Vongdip, described the inauguration as a call to service and pledged commitment to constructive engagement, mutual respect, peace, stability and development of the university.
The outgoing SUG President, Jwanse Stephen, appreciated the opportunity given to him to serve despite prevailing challenges and encouraged the new executives to remain resilient in the discharge of their duties.
Also speaking, the Dean of External Studies, Professor Solomon Mangvwat, and the Dean of the College of Sciences, Professor Dung Mohammed, urged the student leaders to balance academic activities with union responsibilities while contributing innovative ideas for the advancement of the institution.
Registrar of the University, Longtong Yadok, appreciated the Vice Chancellor, the Directorate of Students Affairs and other stakeholders for ensuring the success of the event.
Highlights of the occasion included the commissioning of a students’ park executed by the outgoing SUG administration, administration of oath on the new executives and presentation of awards of excellence to deserving students for their contributions to the Students Union Government.
