The Radio and Television Chapels of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at the Plateau Radio Television Corporation (PRTVC) have thrown their weight behind the incumbent Chairman of the Plateau State Council, Ayuku Pwaspo, endorsing him to seek a second term in office ahead of the union’s forthcoming elections.
The endorsement was unanimously adopted during a joint congress of the Radio and Television Chapels held at the PRTVC Rayfield Station. The meeting, chaired by the Chairman of the PRTVC Radio Chapel, Doman Wetkum, brought together members of both chapels to deliberate on the future of the union and the upcoming state council elections.
The motion endorsing Ayuku Pwaspo was moved by a Director of News and Current Affairs at PRTVC, Gatyi Garba, and seconded by Simi Chollom, receiving overwhelming support from members in attendance.
Speaking during the congress, members stressed the importance of unity within the NUJ, noting that a united union would be better positioned to advance the welfare of journalists and strengthen professionalism across the state.
The PRTVC Radio and Television Chapels commended Pwaspo’s leadership, describing his first tenure as impactful and marked by significant achievements. They expressed confidence that another term would enable him to consolidate on ongoing reforms and further improve the fortunes of the union.
Meanwhile, the Plateau State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has released the timetable for its 2026 elections. According to the schedule, the sale of nomination forms has commenced and will end on 25 July 2026, while the election and swearing-in of newly elected executives are slated for 8 September 2026.
