JOS, Plateau State – August 5, 2026 – Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, inclusive governance, and policies that create sustainable opportunities for young people to actively contribute to the development of Plateau State and Nigeria.

The Governor made this known on Wednesday during the inauguration of the Plateau State Coordinating Unit of the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement held in Jos.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Ngo Josephine Piyo, Governor Mutfwang described the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement as a strategic platform for nurturing responsible leadership, promoting civic responsibility, and encouraging meaningful youth participation in governance and nation-building.

He noted that the inauguration was more than the establishment of a political structure, describing it as a deliberate recognition of young people as indispensable partners in shaping Nigeria’s future.

“The future prosperity of Plateau State depends largely on the development, empowerment, and success of our young people. Our administration will continue to support programmes and policies that expand opportunities for youths to thrive and contribute meaningfully to society,”
the Governor stated.

Governor Mutfwang charged members of the newly inaugurated coordinating unit to distinguish themselves through integrity, innovation, inclusiveness, and selfless service, urging them to make the platform a vehicle for leadership development rather than mere political mobilisation.

Earlier, the Plateau State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement, Wilson Manji, expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would enjoy overwhelming support in Plateau State during the 2027 presidential election.

According to him, the organisation will intensify grassroots mobilisation across the state’s 17 Local Government Areas, particularly among young people, to build support for the President’s re-election.

Also speaking, Plateau State Renewed Hope Ambassador and Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Agenda, Hon. Ernest Abner Da’a, highlighted key economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration, including the removal of fuel subsidy and foreign exchange reforms, describing them as necessary steps toward long-term economic stability.

Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Plateau State and Chairman of Wase Local Government Council, Alhaji Hamisu Anani, pledged the support of all local government chairmen in taking the Renewed Hope mobilisation campaign to communities across Plateau State.

National Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement, Hon. Abdulazeez Abubakar Kaka, outlined several achievements of the Federal Government, including the student loan scheme, improved welfare for security personnel, increased allocations to states, and efforts aimed at restoring investor confidence.

He urged the newly inaugurated Plateau State leadership to sustain active engagement with youths, students, women, traditional rulers, and other critical stakeholders across the 17 local government areas in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration was attended by senior government officials, leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), local government chairmen, youth and women groups, students, and other stakeholders from across Plateau State.
