Chief Hon. David Barji, the APC Senatorial Candidate for Plateau Central in the 2027 general elections, has led other political leaders and stakeholders to Bin Mper Community in Kombun District, Mangu Local Government Area, to condole with residents over the recent attack on the community.
The visit was aimed at expressing solidarity with the affected families, strengthening community confidence and calling for sustained efforts to prevent further attacks.
Chief Barji was accompanied by Hon. Ishaya Lalu, Member of the House of Representatives representing Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency; the Member representing Mangu South in the Plateau State House of Assembly; Deputy Chairman of Mangu Local Government, Hon. Ryegan Aaron; and other political leaders, stakeholders and well-wishers.
Speaking during the visit, Barji described the incident as painful and deeply disturbing, stressing that the loss of lives was a painful reminder of the need for increased vigilance and stronger security measures in vulnerable communities.
He condoled with the families who lost their loved ones, prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
The delegation also attended a church service with members of the community before visiting some affected homes and areas, where they offered words of comfort, encouragement and solidarity to the victims and their families.
Barji called for proactive surveillance across the surrounding villages, Kombun District and other vulnerable communities in the area, urging security agencies and relevant stakeholders to strengthen early-warning and rapid-response mechanisms to prevent further attacks.
He also conveyed the prayers, condolences and message of empathy from the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, to the affected families and the entire community.
According to him, the affected communities must be reassured that they are not alone in the aftermath of the attack, stressing that peace and security require the collective efforts of government, security agencies, traditional institutions, political leaders and citizens.
Chief Barji reaffirmed his commitment to peace, unity and the protection of lives and communities across Plateau State, while urging residents to remain vigilant and avoid actions capable of escalating tensions.
He further encouraged stakeholders to sustain dialogue and community engagement as part of efforts to strengthen peaceful coexistence and build a safer Plateau.
