Excitement swept across Plateau Central on Tuesday as Chief Hon. David Barji officially declared his intent to contest the 2027 senatorial election under the All Progressives Congress (APC), picking up his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms in Abuja.
Supporters across the zone erupted in celebration following the announcement, signaling early momentum for what is shaping up to be a keenly contested primary race.
Speaking shortly after obtaining the forms, Barji described his ambition as a direct response to the collective aspirations of the people of Plateau Central.
“My aspiration is a genuine answer to the yearnings of our people for people-centred representation—one where every voice counts and every life truly matters,” he said.
The frontline aspirant emphasized that his over two decades of legislative experience, particularly within the National Assembly, has equipped him with the capacity to deliver effective, responsive, and impactful representation.
Barji’s bid has already attracted widespread endorsements across the five local government areas of Plateau Central—Bokkos, Mangu, Kanke, Kanam, and Pankshin—underscoring growing grassroots support.
Stakeholders and supporters under the “Face of Hope Project” have also thrown their weight behind his candidacy, expressing confidence in his vision and leadership. They noted that his emergence would herald a new era of inclusive governance and quality representation in the district.
With the APC primaries on the horizon, political observers say Barji’s early entry and broad-based backing could position him as a formidable contender in the race.
