The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed optimism about the year 2026, saying it holds renewed hope and the assurance of God’s promises for the nation.

In her New Year message to Nigerians released via her official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, Mrs Tinubu said she was filled with gratitude to God as the country ushered in the New Year with joy and great expectations for a better future.

She noted that the outgoing year once again highlighted the resilience and enduring spirit of Nigerians, describing citizens as courageous, strong, creative and firmly committed to the belief in a brighter tomorrow.

“My heart is filled with gratitude to God Almighty as we witness this New Year, with joy, great hope, and an assurance of God’s promises for our great nation. The past year reaffirmed the enduring spirit of Nigerians: our courage, our strength, our creativity, and our unwavering belief in a better tomorrow.

“I am deeply inspired by the women, men, and young people across the nation who continue to work tirelessly to uplift their families, communities, and our country,” she said.

Calling for unity and compassion in the New Year, Mrs Tinubu urged Nigerians to embrace peace, empathy and togetherness, and to prioritise investments in the wellbeing of children, women and vulnerable groups.

She also encouraged citizens to create opportunities within their various spheres that would enable all Nigerians to live and thrive with dignity.

“I believe in Nigeria and we should all invest in what she can become. Happy New Year, Nigeria. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” she added.
