Jos, September 8, 2026 — The Plateau State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has sought stronger collaboration with the Plateau State Head of Civil Service, Mr. Stephen Pam Gadong, on issues affecting the practice and development of public relations in the state.
The NIPR delegation, led by the Chapter’s Vice-Chairman, Mr. Sunny Dung, MNIPR, made the call during a courtesy visit to the Head of Service on Tuesday.
Key issues presented by the institute included the cadarisation of NIPR members within the state civil service, provision of office accommodation for the chapter, and joint efforts to tackle quackery and unregulated practice in public relations and government communication.
Mr. Dung also solicited the support of the Head of Service for the chapter’s participation in the forthcoming World Public Relations Week in Abuja and the JD Gomwalk Leadership Lecture Series, scheduled for September 2026.
He said government support for the events would enable the Plateau chapter to participate effectively, showcase its capacity and contribute to enhancing the visibility of the state at the national level.
Responding, the Head of Service, Mr. Stephen Pam Gadong, welcomed the delegation and assured the institute of his office’s willingness to collaborate.
Gadong described the Plateau State Government as a willing partner and advised the NIPR to align its proposals with the broader civil service reform agenda of the administration to facilitate sustainable support.
He further urged the chapter to strengthen its case by providing clear documentation of the roles of NIPR members serving in government, submitting a formal proposal for office accommodation, and developing a joint framework for identifying and addressing quackery in public relations practice.
The Head of Service encouraged the NIPR leadership to present clear, actionable and costed proposals that his office could properly review and support.
The visit was part of the chapter’s efforts to strengthen institutional partnerships and promote professionalism in public relations practice across Plateau State.
