The Plateau State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts and Petitions has carried out an oversight visit to the Plateau State Community and Social Development Agency (PLCSDA) as part of its constitutional responsibility to promote accountability, transparency, and good governance in public institutions.
Legislative oversight remains a critical function of the State House of Assembly, providing a platform for lawmakers to monitor the activities of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), ensure compliance with approved budgets and policies, and assess the impact of government programmes on citizens.
The visit to PLCSDA was aimed at reviewing the Agency’s operations, examining its stewardship of public resources, and engaging management on its achievements, challenges, and future plans.
The Board Room of the Agency served as the venue for the engagement, which brought together members of the House Committee and the management team of PLCSDA, led by the General Manager, Dauda Dinju.
Leading the delegation, Hon. Mathew Kwarpo, Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts and Petitions, emphasized the importance of legislative oversight in strengthening public institutions and ensuring that government agencies remain accountable to the people through their elected representatives.
He noted that oversight activities help to prevent waste, corruption, and mismanagement of public resources while providing an opportunity to evaluate the effectiveness of government programmes and projects.
The engagement was described as interactive, frank, and constructive, with members of the committee and the Agency’s management discussing key operational issues, achievements recorded by the Agency, and areas requiring further support and improvement.
Responding, the General Manager of PLCSDA, Dauda Dinju, appreciated the committee for the visit and reiterated the Agency’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the effective implementation of community-driven development programmes across Plateau State.
The oversight visit underscores the commitment of the Plateau State House of Assembly to ensuring responsible governance, improved service delivery, and sustainable development through effective monitoring of public institutions.
