PANKSHIN — The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Pankshin (FUEP), Professor Noel Nen’man Ndalbeh Wannang, has disclaimed a fake Facebook account allegedly created and operated in his name and likeness to deceive and defraud members of the public.
In a statement signed by the University’s Deputy Director, Information and Public Relations, Charles Nda Homsuk, MNIPR, the Vice Chancellor expressed concern over the activities of individuals using his photograph and official position to fraudulently solicit money and deceive unsuspecting members of the public.
According to the statement, the fraudulent account has been used to make purported requests relating to the supply of goods and services.
Professor Wannang has therefore categorically stated that the Facebook account is fake, unauthorized and does not belong to him.
He urged members of the public to disregard any information, messages, requests or financial solicitations originating from the account or anyone claiming to act on his behalf through the platform.
The Vice Chancellor also advised members of the public to exercise caution and verify suspicious communications through the appropriate official channels of the Federal University of Education, Pankshin.
The University disclosed that the matter has already been formally reported to the appropriate authorities for investigation and necessary action.
Members of the public are consequently advised to remain vigilant and avoid engaging or transacting with the operators of the fraudulent account.
