The management of the Federal University of Education, Pankshin (FUEP), has taken a significant step towards strengthening campus security with the deployment of advanced security gadgets to its security division.
At a formal handover ceremony held at the University’s Council Board Room, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Noel Wannang, presented a suite of modern security equipment to security personnel as part of the institution’s proactive efforts to address emerging security challenges and ensure a safe learning environment.
The newly acquired equipment includes long-range tactical flashlights, high-definition 360-degree solar-powered CCTV surveillance cameras, advanced walkie-talkie communication devices, and tactical equipment designed to enhance the operational capacity of the University’s security team.
Speaking during the ceremony, Prof. Wannang said the investment reflects the administration’s unwavering commitment to the safety and wellbeing of students, staff, and visitors.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the effectiveness of the equipment depends largely on the vigilance and professionalism of the officers operating them. He therefore urged security personnel to remain alert and dedicated to their duties.
“Security is everyone’s responsibility,” Prof. Wannang stated, adding that management acquired the gadgets after identifying the urgent operational needs of the security unit. He also assured officers that the University would provide immediate and comprehensive training to ensure the effective use of the equipment.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Security Department, Chief Security Officer, Wing Commander Maimako Yusuf (Rtd), expressed gratitude to the University management for its proactive approach to security matters.
He commended the administration for taking preventive measures rather than waiting to react to security incidents, assuring management that the security team is fully motivated and prepared to deploy every available resource to safeguard lives and property within the institution.
Also speaking, the University Registrar, Mr. Longtong Yadok, praised the cordial relationship between the University’s management and the security unit. He noted that a secure environment is fundamental to academic excellence and described the deployment of the security gadgets as a major contribution toward fostering safety across the campus community.
The initiative further demonstrates FUEP’s commitment to creating a secure and conducive environment for teaching, learning, and research.
