The Plateau State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the long-standing relationship between the State and the Igbo community, pledging greater economic inclusion, justice, and shared prosperity for all residents.

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang made the commitment during an interactive meeting with leaders of the Igbo community from across Plateau State at the Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos.

The Governor described the Ndigbo as indispensable partners in Plateau State’s economic growth, peaceful coexistence, and sustainable development, commending their resilience, entrepreneurial spirit, and significant contributions to commerce, industry, investment, and wealth creation.

He emphasized that the relationship between Plateau State and the Igbo community is built on mutual trust, respect, and a shared vision for progress.

“We deeply value your contributions and remain committed to protecting every law-abiding resident while creating a peaceful, secure, and business-friendly environment where enterprises can thrive and investments are protected,”
Governor Mutfwang stated.

The Governor noted that the Middle Belt has continued to provide a welcoming environment for the Igbo people, urging them to sustain their support for Plateau State by promoting peaceful coexistence, praying for lasting peace, and partnering with his administration to build a united and prosperous society.

Responding to concerns over a land-related dispute, Governor Mutfwang assured the delegation that justice would prevail once all legal and administrative procedures had been concluded, stressing his administration’s commitment to fairness, due process, and the protection of legitimate rights.

As a demonstration of goodwill, the Governor also announced a financial donation to support the activities of the Ndigbo community in Plateau State.

He further expressed appreciation for the overwhelming support the Igbo community gave him during the 2023 governorship election, assuring them that his administration would continue to implement inclusive policies that guarantee equal opportunities and economic prosperity for every resident, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or place of origin.

Speaking on behalf of the Igbo community, the President-General of Ndigbo in Plateau State, Chief Chidi Onah, reaffirmed the community’s unwavering support for the Mutfwang administration, describing the Governor as an inclusive leader committed to peace, unity, and equitable development.

Other Igbo leaders also commended Governor Mutfwang for fostering a cordial relationship with the community and ensuring that every ethnic group enjoys a sense of belonging in Plateau State. They reaffirmed their loyalty to the State Government while appealing for compensation over a property acquired by the government in the overriding public interest.

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their shared commitment to peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, inclusive governance, economic prosperity, and the collective development of Plateau State.
