PANKSHIN — Academic staff of the Federal University of Education Pankshin (FUEP) have undergone a three-day intensive training on Teaching Entrepreneurship with Effectuation, designed to strengthen the University’s capacity to deliver practical and innovative entrepreneurship education.
The training was organised by the National Universities Commission (NUC), Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), and GETrust, with facilitators from the University of Maiduguri.
Declaring the programme open, the Vice Chancellor of FUE Pankshin, Prof. Noel Wannang, commended the organisers for introducing the training, describing the use of effectuation in teaching entrepreneurship as timely and worthwhile.
Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Judith Dawulung, the Vice Chancellor stressed the need to equip students with entrepreneurial knowledge and skills that can enhance self-reliance, creativity and innovation.
He assured that the University would continue to embrace programmes capable of stimulating creativity and producing meaningful outcomes for both students and the institution.
Speaking earlier, the Director of the University’s Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Dr. Mangkut Zephaniah, highlighted the relevance of the training to academic staff and appreciated the University Management for creating a conducive environment for the programme.
He also commended the facilitators and participants for their commitment to the three-day engagement.
The facilitators, Dr. Abubakar Adamu of the Department of Business Administration and Dr. Mohammed Dauda of the Department of Agricultural Economics, both from the University of Maiduguri, addressed participants on Pedagogical Principles for Teaching Entrepreneurship to Non-Business Students, Effectuation: Background and Principles, and Effectuation Entrepreneurship.
The training provided practical insights into the Bird-in-Hand, Lemonade, Crazy Quilt and Pilot-in-the-Plane principles, as well as Gardening Activism and the Daria Alekseeva case study.
Participants also explored how to conduct effectual interviews for developing case studies and examined how a “Value Creator” mindset can transform professional careers.
At the end of the programme, Prof. Asilika Allu, a participant, presented an overview of the training, followed by an interactive session featuring questions, answers and contributions from participants and facilitators.
In his closing remarks, the University’s Registrar, Mr. Longtong Godwill Yadok, commended the organisers and urged participants to put the knowledge acquired into practice.
He noted that the training would contribute significantly to upscaling the University’s capacity in entrepreneurship education.
The programme concluded with the presentation of certificates to the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellors and other participating academic staff.
