The APC Senatorial Candidate for Plateau Central in the 2027 General Election, Chief Hon. David Bitrus Barji, has reaffirmed his commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible leadership through his support for a major tree-planting initiative in Pankshin.
Chief Barji was among the Co-Launchers of an environmental initiative championed by Green Thumbs Entrepreneur, which provided 15,000 assorted tree seedlings free of charge to members of the public to encourage widespread tree planting across Pankshin and surrounding communities.
Representing Chief Barji at the event held at the College of Health Technology, Pankshin, Nde James Dimlong joined stakeholders and members of the public in the initiative and planted a tree within the College premises.
The symbolic tree planting marked the beginning of a renewed campaign to encourage residents, community leaders, institutions and other stakeholders to embrace tree planting as a practical response to environmental degradation and the growing effects of climate change.
The initiative, according to the organisers, is designed not only to increase tree cover but also to promote environmental awareness, protect natural resources and contribute to healthier and more sustainable communities.
Chief Barji’s participation underscores his belief that leadership must extend beyond immediate political and socioeconomic concerns to include deliberate actions that protect the environment and secure a better future for coming generations.
The Barji campaign maintains that sustainable development requires collective responsibility, noting that every tree planted today represents an investment in the environmental wellbeing of tomorrow.
The initiative also aligns with the broader need for communities across Plateau Central to adopt sustainable environmental practices while encouraging young people and residents to take ownership of the protection of their surroundings.
One tree today.
A greener Plateau Central tomorrow.
