The Director General of the Plateau State Contributory Health Care Management Agency (PLASCHEMA), Dr. Kwande Solomon Dawal, has engaged members of the Plateau State House of Assembly on the operations, mandate and ongoing efforts of the Agency to expand access to quality and affordable healthcare across the state.
The engagement, held during the Assembly’s Executive Session at the instance of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Na’anlong G. Daniel, provided an opportunity for the PLASCHEMA management to brief lawmakers on the Agency’s activities and strategies for expanding health insurance coverage across Plateau State.
Dr. Kwande appreciated the Speaker and members of the Assembly for the opportunity to engage with them, calling for sustained legislative support to take health insurance closer to the people.
He specifically urged lawmakers to facilitate the enrolment of their constituents into the health insurance scheme, stressing that health insurance can help reduce the financial burden of healthcare on families while improving access to essential health services.
During the session, lawmakers raised questions and sought clarifications on various aspects of the operations and implementation of the health insurance scheme.
Dr. Kwande responded to the questions and provided explanations on the issues raised, while further clarifying the role of PLASCHEMA and the opportunities available to residents through health insurance coverage.
The engagement underscored the importance of sustained collaboration between PLASCHEMA and key government institutions in strengthening healthcare financing and ensuring that more residents of Plateau State are covered by health insurance.
At the end of the engagement, members of the House expressed their commitment to supporting health insurance enrolment among their constituents, reinforcing a shared commitment to improving access to affordable and quality healthcare across Plateau State.
