Leading APC senatorial aspirant for Plateau Central, Chief Hon. David Barji, has concluded his consultation tour across Kanam, Kanke, and Pankshin Local Government Areas with widespread endorsements from party stakeholders, youths, women groups, and community leaders.
The tour recorded large turnouts across the three LGAs, further strengthening Barji’s grassroots acceptance ahead of the party’s senatorial primaries.
Led by former two-term House of Representatives member and Director-General of the Barji Campaign Council, Hon. Solomon Maren, the delegation began with a visit to the Emir’s Palace in Dengi, Kanam LGA, where homage was paid to the traditional institution.
Addressing stakeholders, Barji said Plateau Central needs experienced representation capable of attracting development and defending the interests of the people at the National Assembly. Stakeholders, in turn, described his over 20 years of legislative experience as a major advantage.
In Kanke, supporters described Barji as “their own son,” citing his strong personal connection to the area. He also paid tribute to prominent sons of the LGA, including General Yakubu Gowon and the late Joseph Gomwalk, while commending Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda for his leadership in Plateau State.
The tour climaxed in Pankshin with a rousing reception as supporters pledged strong backing for his aspiration.
Barji assured collaboration with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Caleb Mutfwang to attract development projects and strengthen effective representation.
He emphasized that true representation goes beyond office holding to include lawmaking, oversight, appropriation, and strategic lobbying for constituency development.
Observers say the successful tour has further positioned Chief Hon. David Barji as a strong contender ahead of the 2027 senatorial elections.
