The Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Plateau State Branch, has reaffirmed its commitment to building stronger partnerships with tertiary institutions following a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Pankshin (FUEP), Prof. Noel Wannang.

The visit, held at the Vice Chancellor’s office, underscored the importance of collaboration between academia and professional bodies in advancing accounting education, research, and capacity development.

Welcoming the delegation, Prof. Wannang expressed gratitude to the association and reiterated the university’s readiness to work closely with ANAN in promoting professional excellence among its staff and students.

The Vice Chancellor particularly commended members of the University’s Bursary Department who belong to ANAN, describing them as valuable assets to the institution. He assured the delegation that the university would continue to support initiatives aimed at strengthening professional competence and institutional growth through strategic partnerships.

Leading the delegation, the Plateau State Chairman of ANAN, Dr. Anthony Garba, FCNA, explained that the visit was part of the association’s nationwide drive to foster stronger relationships with institutions of higher learning.

He appreciated the Vice Chancellor for making history as the first head of a tertiary institution to officially approve and host the association’s courtesy visit in Plateau State.

On behalf of the 14th President and Chairman of ANAN’s Governing Council, Haj. Zuwaira Talatu Kishimi, Dr. Garba congratulated Prof. Wannang on his appointment as the substantive Vice Chancellor of FUEP and praised the remarkable infrastructural transformation taking place across the university since he assumed office.

Dr. Garba also informed the university management about ANAN’s forthcoming Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) programme scheduled for September 2026. The conference, themed “The Accountancy Profession and Artificial Intelligence,” is expected to explore the growing impact of AI on the accounting profession and equip practitioners with the skills needed for the evolving digital economy.

He further requested the university’s approval to host ANAN’s monthly congress at FUEP on January 9, 2027, a proposal expected to further strengthen ties between the association and the institution.

Speaking on behalf of the university management, the Registrar, Mr. Yadok Longtong Godwill, thanked ANAN for the visit and expressed confidence that the partnership would create more opportunities for professional development within the university community.

Established in 1976 and chartered by Act 76 of 1993, the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) is one of Nigeria’s foremost professional accounting bodies, dedicated to advancing the science and practice of accounting nationwide.

At the Federal University of Education, Pankshin, ANAN currently has 23 members, operating as a micro-unit under the leadership of Mr. Fer Dambring, a Senior Deputy Bursar in the university’s Bursary Department.

The visit concluded with the presentation of a golden plaque to Prof. Noel Wannang by the Plateau State Chairman of ANAN, Dr. Anthony Garba, in recognition of the Vice Chancellor’s leadership and contributions to the growth of the university.
