The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Pankshin (FUEP), Professor Noel Nenman Wannang, has urged students with outstanding school fees to settle their obligations promptly ahead of examinations.
Professor Wannang gave the charge during an interactive session with the Students’ Union Government (SUG) executives for the 2026/2027 academic session, led by Comrade Lohkur Vongdip, at the Quality Assurance Board Room of the University.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed confidence in the student leadership, commending the executives for demonstrating maturity, objectivity and a willingness to embrace constructive change.
He described the SUG as a balanced and focused leadership capable of contributing meaningfully to the development of the institution and the nation.
Professor Wannang, however, expressed concern over reports that some students had deliberately failed to pay their school fees despite receiving disbursements through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
He consequently urged affected students to regularise their payments before examinations, stressing the need for students to fulfil their financial obligations to the University.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the SUG executives to present pressing concerns affecting students, including campus security, hostel accommodation, electricity supply, sports development and student activities.
Other issues discussed included strengthening feedback mechanisms between students and management to improve academic quality and maintain standards across the Institution.
Responding to the concerns, Professor Wannang said several of the issues raised were already receiving attention, assuring the students of management’s determination to provide a conducive, friendly and peaceful learning environment.
He emphasised the importance of sustained dialogue and cooperation between the University Authorities and student representatives in addressing challenges and advancing the Institution’s development.
Earlier, the SUG President, Comrade Lohkur Vongdip, presented the union’s mission statement, explaining that the engagement was necessary to bring critical student concerns to the attention of management.
He reaffirmed the union’s commitment to working collaboratively with the University authorities to promote the growth and development of FUEP.
In his vote of thanks, the Dean of the Directorate of Students Affairs, Professor Katkukka Danjuma Gokum, represented by his deputy, Mr Kazi Sunday, appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for granting the union an audience.
He assured the students that the Directorate would continue to provide guidance and work with the SUG to strengthen student representation and promote effective engagement on campus.
The session ended with a group photograph featuring the Vice-Chancellor, his aide, representatives of the Directorate of Students Affairs, the SUG President and other union officials.
