Jos, Plateau State — September 20, 2026
The APC Senatorial Candidate for Plateau Central Senatorial District, Chief Hon. David Bitrus Barji Kasuwa, has felicitated with the Chairman of the Ngas Elders Forum and elder statesman, Nde Dr. Gideon G. Barde, on the occasion of his birthday.
In a goodwill message, Barji described Nde Barde as a distinguished public servant whose life has been marked by service, wisdom, humility and fatherly leadership.
Nde Dr. Gideon Barde has served Plateau State and its people in several capacities, including as Commissioner for Information during the administration of the late Chief Solomon Daushep Lar. He also served in portfolios relating to Internal Affairs, Protocol and Printing.
Barji also acknowledged his contributions to the development of the State’s information and media sector, particularly his role in the establishment of Plateau Television (PTV).
Before becoming a Commissioner, Nde Barde served as an Information Officer and Press Secretary to the Military Governor of Benue-Plateau State during the administration of the late Commissioner of Police Joseph D. Gomwalk. He later became the first substantive Editor of The Nigeria Standard.
According to Barji, beyond the various positions held by the elder statesman, his enduring legacy lies in the wisdom, humility and fatherly counsel he continues to offer to younger generations.
He noted that, as Chairman of the Ngas Elders Forum, Nde Barde’s experience and counsel remain valuable to the Ngas Development Association, the Ngas Traditional Council and the wider Ngas community.
Barji prayed for continued good health, peace, strength and fulfilment for the elder statesman, while asking God to preserve him for many more years of service and guidance.
“Happy Birthday, Nde Dr. Gideon G. Barde,” Barji said, celebrating the elder statesman for his contributions to public service and his continued role as a father and source of wisdom to the people.
