It was time to reconnect and unwind as the Plateau State Chapter of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) brought members under one roof to reflect on outgoing year during its 2025 Annual General Meeting, held in Jos, the Plateau State Capital.

In his remark during the event, the Plateau State chairman of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Thomas Bajeh, assured that the leadership of the institute is focused on the growth of membership of the chapter and the institute through sustaining trust and building confidence initiated in the first tenure.

Mr. Bajeh stated this during the NIPR 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM), Award Ceremony, and Get together, which took place at the Nigeria Bible Translation Trust (NBTT), Old Airport Road, Jos.According to him, since the state chapter EXCO took an oath of office twelve months ago, it has worked to reinvigorate the chapter by ensuring that it remains visible and relevant at the national level even as it undertakes its public relations activities in the state.

He said the EXCO has consistently held executive council meetings and monthly congresses which feature PR clinics on topics with professional and intellectual content, stressing that the Plateau State chapter has continued to maintain strong presence at national events, with the support of the council member representing Plateau State, Prof. Sarah Lwahas, mnipr, and indeed all members of the chapter.

Further more the chapter successfully facilitated the investiture of the Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang as patron of the institute, adding that the event had in attendance the president/chairman of governing council of the institute, Dr. Ike Neliaku, Fnipr, and its vice president, Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura.

Bajeh stated that the EXCO has received and processed several membership applications and that it successfully presented eighty-seven (87) candidates for induction as new members of the institute, but lamented the challenges being faced by the chapter such as inadequate funding, and lack of office accommodation.

He appreciated the governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang for his support, and also commended the governing council, senior members of the chapter, members of the committee, and indeed, all members for their various contribution to the growth of the institute.

Keynote speaker at the event, Barr. Haroun Audu, spoke on the topic, “Navigating the Complexity of Protocol Function in Public Relations” in which he described protocol as a set of rules, procedures, or standards that define how activities, communication or processes should be carried out, saying it ensures consistency, reliability and mutual understanding between partners or systems.Barr. Audu outlined key protocol principles, which include respect for hierarchy, ability to communicate clearly and transparently, management of public events, among others.

The event featured high profile award presentation to some members which included Prof. Taye Obateru , mnipr; John Naandaet, mnipr; Harris Dawurang, mnipr ; James Mannok, mnipr ; Fwenji Goar, mnipr; Martins Emeka, Anipr ; Patience Jatau, Anipr; and Chief Tony Iheanacho, mnipr ; among others.
