PANKSHIN — A total of 522 students have been formally admitted into the 2026 Contact Session of the Federal University of Education (FUE), Pankshin, under its part-time programme.
The matriculation ceremony, held at the University Auditorium, brought together university authorities, academic staff, students, parents and other stakeholders to mark the formal commencement of the students’ academic journey.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos (UNIJOS), Prof. Tanko Ishaya, said the two institutions were committed to exposing students to contemporary and innovative teaching strategies that would enhance their professional development as educators.
Prof. Ishaya, represented by the Dean, Faculty of Education, University of Jos, Prof. Grace Chollom, said the partnership between UNIJOS and FUE Pankshin would continue to provide students with quality educational experiences backed by experienced academics and professional support staff.
He, however, warned the newly admitted students against cultism, examination malpractice, assault and other anti-social or criminal activities.
According to him, such misconduct attracts severe penalties which could jeopardise or even terminate a student’s academic pursuit.
The Vice Chancellor urged the students to familiarise themselves with the universities’ policies on academic integrity and discipline, stressing that grievances should be reported through the appropriate authorities rather than taking the law into their own hands.
The Vice Chancellor of FUE Pankshin, Prof. Noel Nen’man Ndalbeh Wannang, also reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to producing graduates distinguished by sound character, competence and integrity.
Prof. Wannang, represented by the Dean, College of Sciences, Prof. Dung Mohammed, commended the longstanding collaboration between FUE Pankshin and the University of Jos, noting that the relationship dates back to when the institution was still a college.
He said the institution had elected to sustain and strengthen the partnership even after attaining full university status.
Prof. Wannang charged the new students to abide by the Students’ Handbook, protect university property, shun cultism and examination malpractice, and respect constituted authorities, lecturers and fellow students.
He also appealed to parents and guardians to guide their children and wards towards responsible conduct and a decent campus life.
The Vice Chancellor condemned the reported assault of a female student by some other female students, stressing that violence and other forms of indiscipline would not be tolerated.
The Registrar of the University of Jos, Dr. Rejoice Songden, represented by Mrs. Timbyen Rimdap, administered the matriculation oath to the newly admitted students.
The Deans of the various Colleges also formally presented the students for matriculation.
Goodwill messages were delivered by the Part-Time Students’ Union Government President, Nathan Jerry, and the Director of External Programmes, University of Jos, Prof. Solomon Mangvwat, who was represented by the Centre Manager, Dr. Din Sarki.
The highlight of the ceremony was the formal administration of the matriculation oath to 522 students admitted into the 2026 Contact Session.
