Iran rejects ceasefire deal, demands Israel to end 'illegal aggression' first

Iran has rejected reports of a ceasefire agreement with Israel, insisting that Tehran will only stop its retaliatory attacks if Israel ends what it calls “illegal aggression.”

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, made the statement on Tuesday via his verified X account, directly contradicting U.S. President Donald Trump’s earlier claim that both countries had reached a ceasefire to end the 12-day conflict.

“As Iran has repeatedly made clear, Israel started this war, not Iran,” Araghchi stated.

“At this moment, there is NO agreement on any ceasefire or halt to military operations. However, if the Israeli regime ends its illegal aggression against the Iranian people by 4 a.m. Tehran time, we will have no reason to continue our response. A final decision regarding the cessation of our military actions will be made subsequently,” he added.

So far, Israel has not issued any public response regarding the ceasefire claims or Iran’s demands.

Since Israel began its offensive on June 13, Iran reports that over 400 people have been killed, including 13 children, with more than 3,000 others injured.

Meanwhile, Iranian strikes have reportedly killed at least 24 people in Israel.
