The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers terrorising Sarau Belel community in Maiha Local Government Area, following a complaint about a recent kidnapping threat.

This was made known in a statement on Saturday, signed by SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, Police Public Relations Officer.

“On 26th December 2025, the Command received a complaint from Emmanuel Daniel, a resident of Sagal Village, who reported that he was threatened with kidnapping by two individuals. The suspects allegedly claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of his younger brother, Joshua Daniel, who was abducted in November 2024,” the command said.

The statement added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, immediately deployed the Divisional Police Officer Sarau Belel, alongside operatives of the division, to carry out a swift and coordinated operation.

This led to the arrest of “Sunday Yakubu, 36, and Daniel Yakubu, 38, both residents of Konjoli Village, Maiha LGA.”

The command also said. “During the investigation, the suspects confessed to the allegations and are currently aiding the command with useful information.”

The Commissioner has further directed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to take over the case to ensure a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution in accordance with the law.

The Adamawa State Police Command reassured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property, urging the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the police.

In a crime-related incident, PUNCH Online earlier reported that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency seized 1,396.5 kg of narcotics and arrested 150 suspects in Adamawa in December.

The Commander of the Agency in Adamawa, Mr Aliyu Abubakar, disclosed that, “In the series of coordinated intelligence-driven operations across the state, including the Airport, we have recorded landmark success, dismantling drug joints and intercepting deadly consignments.”
