President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of commissioners to key federal agencies, including the National Population Commission, the Federal Character Commission, and the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

A statement on Monday by the Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Segun Imohiosen, confirmed the appointments.

Imohiosen said the appointments take effect from February 3, 2025, for an initial period of five years.

According to the statement, Kayode Oladele has been named the Federal Commissioner for the Federal Character Commission, while Mrs. Olukemi Victoria Iyantan has been appointed as a Commissioner in the National Population Commission.

He added that 21 new federal commissioners have been appointed to the RMAFC, with a mix of fresh appointments and renewals.

The newly appointed commissioners include Linda Nkechi Oti from Abia, Akpan Imo Effiong from Akwa Ibom, and Enefe Ekene from Anambra.

Others, including Steve Ugbah from Benue, Wumi Ogunlola from Ekiti, and Adamu Fanda from Kano, also secured their first appointments.

However, some commissioners, like Eyo Nsa Whiley from Cross River, Victor Eboigbe from Edo, and Olusegun Adekunle Wright from Lagos, had their tenures renewed.

“The appointments are in accordance with the provisions governing political, public, and judicial officeholders.

“The President urges the Federal Commissioners to give maximum support to their various Heads to achieve the vision and mission of their respective agencies in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the statement added.
