Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Chief Gani Adams, has urged the newly installed Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adesuyi Haastrup, to reconcile with any contestants who may still harbour grievances over his emergence as the paramount ruler of Ijesaland.
In a congratulatory message signed by his Media Assistant, Kehinde Adefemi, and received in Osogbo on Wednesday, Adams expressed confidence in the monarch’s ability to bring transformation to his domain.
“Now that the contest is over, I implore Your Majesty to extend the olive branch to all aggrieved contestants, heal all divisions, and unite everyone for the challenging task of continuing the progress established by your predecessor, His Imperial Majesty, the late Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II,” Adams said.
He also commended Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and the people of Ijesaland for their role in Oba Haastrup’s ascension to the throne, praying for divine protection and guidance for the new monarch.
He prayed for the new king’s long life, good health, and a reign marked by success, peace, prosperity, and joy for Ijesaland and all of Yorubaland.
Acknowledging Oba Haastrup’s capacity to drive change, Adams emphasised the strategic importance of Ijesaland within Yorubaland’s broader development, noting that the region’s progress must not be neglected.
“You possess the capability to transform Ijesaland, and I am confident that your wealth of experience as an astute administrator, and a successful businessman, and your powerful networks worldwide will help further the development of Ijesaland for the benefit of all its citizens, as well as non-citizens,” he said.
Adams urged Oba Haastrup to demonstrate love for his people and collaborate closely with other traditional rulers, not only within the Osun State Council of Obas, where he serves as Deputy Chairman, but also across Yorubaland.
“As Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, I assure you of my full support in ensuring your success on the throne. Together, we will work towards the unity, peace, and progress of Yorubaland and Nigeria as a whole,” Adams said.
