The former Minister of Women Affairs, Uju-Kennedy Ohanenye, has emphasised that her vision remains unshaken despite being sacked by President Bola Tinubu.

In an interview on Channels TV on Wednesday, she explained that while she may no longer hold the ministerial position, her dedication to her cause and her work continues unabated.

“I was sacked, but my visions remain; my visions were not sacked,” she affirmed.

She elaborated on her ongoing commitment to the causes she championed while in office, saying, “I have been doing all those I was doing when I was the minister of women’s affairs.

“I still go to court to defend the people that can’t defend themselves, that don’t have money to get a lawyer.”

The former minister also mentioned that she has continued to manage some sensitive cases she was handling during her tenure.

“I am still handling all the cases I had before I left, and they are quite sensitive cases, so I couldn’t just abandon them,” she said.

“I’m still going ahead to empower women, young girls, and men. I’m producing some movies on morals, which was part of the things I wanted to do before the sack,” she added.

Reflecting on the public support she received after her sacking, Ohanenye expressed gratitude for the backing from Nigerians.

She said, “The most important thing is that I have been sacked, and I thank Nigerians for the support they gave me. I couldn’t believe it. They spoke out for me.

“I thank them, but at the same time, I keep advising that when one door closes, just try your best to open another one, even if it’s the one you’ve closed before; reopen it.”

During the interview, Ohaneye clarified that she prefers to be referred to as the “sacked” minister, saying, “Let me introduce myself the way it should be. You said, ‘was removed.’ I am Uju-Kennedy Ohanenye, the sacked minister of women affairs. I think I’ll prefer you to use that word.”
