Working from home is becoming more popular and offers many great advantages. According to Pew Research, 60% of Americans work remotely “all or most of the time” as a result of technological advancements and accommodating companies. We list the top 10 benefits of working from home for Americans in this article:

Your work-life balance will improve if you work from home.

The flexibility of working from home is one of its advantages. You are in charge of the priorities in your life, whether it means spending more time caring for your family, walking the dog, or running errands.

You spend less time in traffic and on your commute to work.

Some folks lose hours of their day traveling to and from work because of traffic and overcrowding. You have more time to take care of the things you need and want to do when you work from home. According to the US Census, the nation’s average one-way commute time reached a new record in 2019 of 27.6 minutes, an increase of 10% from 2006.

You cut costs.

You can avoid having to make the following purchases if you work from home:

  • Dinner or lunch. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average American spends $3,000 on eating out annually.
  • Appropriate attire

## Getting to and from work by automobile (gas, car, Uber, or transit pass)

  • Daycare (you might be able to take care of your kid from home)

You are more efficient when it comes to work tasks and assignments.

According to Bloomberg, Americans who work from home are 13% more productive than those who work in an office. “They worked more minutes because they were less late and took shorter lunch and toilet breaks,” said Nicholas Bloom, a Stanford University professor of economics.

You can work from any location on the planet.

Employees are free to work wherever they feel most at ease. This promotes worker freedom and mobility while also allowing the organization to save money on office space.

It is possible to avoid office politics.

When you work in an office with coworkers, you have to deal with gossip, conflict, and drama. Remote workers, on the other hand, are more likely to avoid these issues.

you can dress comfortably and warmly.

At-home attire can be more casual than the business casual attire typically required in an office setting.

You devote less time to meetings.

Video and audio conference tools make it simple for people to connect. Using the messaging function, employees can share documents and read comments. These meetings are more productive than in-person meetings because the mute button reduces interruptions and idle chatter. Zoom expects to have 32.082 million US users by 2022.

You might require fewer sick days.

Working in an office while sick is difficult. Being sick while working from home is slightly more manageable. If your employer does not differentiate between paid time off (sick days vs. vacation days), you are more likely to get more vacation days by working remotely. There is currently no federal legislation for paid sick leave, according to the US Department of Labor. According to Mercer HR, “eleven states — California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Washington — as well as Puerto Rico and Washington, DC — have enacted laws providing paid leave.”

You can make a commitment to healthier eating and living habits.

Working from home allows you to have more control over the food you eat. You can, for example, choose fruits and vegetables over the office vending machine. You can also schedule a run or an exercise class.

If these benefits pique your interest, working from home could be a good fit for you!
