The Federal University of Education, Pankshin has hosted a landmark three-day event to celebrate the transformation and making of its pioneer professors, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s academic journey.
The event, held at the University Auditorium, brought together 28 Professors and 35 Associate Professors in a strategic engagement focused on strengthening academic excellence, leadership development, and institutional sustainability.
Organized in collaboration with the Centre for Advocacy on Peace and Ethics in Nigeria, CANEP, a foundation committed to peacebuilding and ethical leadership
Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Education Pankshin, FUEP, Professor Noel Wannang, described the workshop as a timely intervention that aligns with his vision of repositioning the University for global relevance and sustainable growth.Professor Wannang emphasized that professors must serve not only as scholars but as pillars of academic sustainability, peacebuilding, and institutional memoryThe Vice Chancellor also highlighted the symbolic tree-planting ceremony of guava, pear, and mango within the University premises,as a practical demonstration of the University’s dedication to environmental sustainability.President of CANEP, Brigadier General David Buba Shaljaba (Rtd.), and Professor Yohanna Mamza who both represented CANEP, made tremendous discussions on the role of academia in fostering peace and national development.
The workshop featured keynote presentations by Rev. Professor Pandam Yamsat and Professor Patricia Lar, who challenged participants to uphold academic integrity, strengthen mentorship, enhance research visibility, and demonstrate leadership with humility and impact.
Award presentation and dinner in honour of pioneer professors, as well as a public presentation of a commemorative book titled “Never in Dreams: The Transformation and Making of Pioneer Professors” were the key features during the event.
