Plateau State Government has taken proactive measures towards enhancing transparency, accountability, performance, and overall efficiency within the Plateau State Civil Service.
This follows Office the unveiling of the verification and biometric capture of Civil Servants and pensioners across the State.
In partnership with the Plateau State ICT Development Agency (PICTDA),this initiative aims to validate and update civil servants’ records while deploying a biometric attendance system across MDAs statewide.
The Head of the Civil Service, Mr. Stephen Pam Gadong, said it has become imperative to enable the state government determine the actual number of staff on its payroll, as well as the true number of civil servants and pensioners in the state.
This, he noted, will promote accountability and transparency within the system stressing that the deliberate deployment of biometric devices to all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies is aimed at improving staff attendance.
The Head of Service reiterated that the deployment of biometric technology will reduce the need for frequent verification exercises by the government, as staff details will be captured in a central database as employees of the state government.
Director General of the Plateau State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (PICTDA), Engr. Datong Dominic Gwaman, expressed satisfaction with the technology, emphasising that the Head of the Civil Service is the custodian of all human resources in the state, PICTDA’s role is to provide the appropriate technology to support the verification exercise and the continuous monitoring of staff attendance.
He further explained that the deployment of biometric devices across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) will be monitored by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service.
He concluded by stating that the government will reward diligent officers.
