Community-Driven Development is not just a “project method” but a philosophy of development. When implemented well, with careful attention to power dynamics and inclusion, it can be a transformative approach that builds infrastructure, strengthens governance, and empowers citizens from the ground up.
Its greatest promise is creating development that is not just for the people, but by and with the people.
It is against this philosophy that Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State assured rural communities that infrastructural development will henceforth be based on their felt needs.
The governors message was echoed during a Community Project Management committee training organised by the Plateau State Community and Social Development Agency, saddled with the responsibility of driving Community Driven Development in the State, North-Central of Nigeria.
The training which had 378 participants from 11 Local Government Areas of Plateau State is to equip the Community Project Management Committee members with basic knowledge of Report Writing, Financial Management, Monitoring, and Evaluation as well as project maintenance and sustainability.
The Governor’s message which was delivered by the General Manager, Plateau State Community and Social Development Agency PLCSDA, Dauda Dinju, advised the benefitting communities to ensure prudent utilisation of funds that will be disbursed to them for the execution of their micro projects.
On his part the Director of personnel Management of Pankshin Local government Council, who is also the Chairman of the Local Government Review Committee Arin Dauda Amah, expressed gratitude to Governor Mutfwang for his passion towards rural transformation.
After the exhaustive training session the CPMC were grouped according to their communities to develop various work plans that will assist in the execution of their micro projects.
