The Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) has concluded a five-day High-Impact Leadership Retreat for its expanded Management Staff, aimed at strengthening leadership capacity, institutional performance and the Agency’s contribution to sustainable healthcare delivery in Plateau State.
Held at the serene Miango Rest Home (MRH), Jos, the retreat was anchored by BlueSpring Consulting and Training Ltd. and provided an opportunity for the Agency’s management team to step away from routine operations, reflect on emerging challenges and develop practical strategies for improved leadership and organisational effectiveness.
The retreat featured the Permanent Secretary, Plateau State Ministry of Health, Mr. Bitrus Keln Hosea, who commended the Director-General of PLASCHEMA, Dr. Kwande Solomon Dawal, for initiating what he described as a timely and visionary leadership development programme.
Mr. Hosea noted that effective leadership requires deliberate preparation for emerging challenges, while applauding PLASCHEMA for its strides in expanding access to quality healthcare across the State.
He said the Agency’s growing impact aligns with the healthcare vision of the “Time Is Now” Administration of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, while appreciating the Governor for his continued commitment to strengthening the health sector.
Speaking during the retreat, the Director-General of PLASCHEMA, Dr. Kwande Solomon Dawal, reflected on the Agency’s progress since his assumption of office, attributing its achievements to the support of Governor Mutfwang and the dedication of PLASCHEMA staff.
Dr. Dawal challenged participants to approach the retreat with purpose, stressing that effective leadership must ultimately translate into tangible improvements in the lives of the people served by the Agency.
“Our responsibility goes beyond managing systems. It is about building an institution that continually earns the confidence of government and delivers quality healthcare for every Plateau resident,” he said.
The Director-General also commended the faculty of BlueSpring Consulting and Training Ltd. for bringing extensive experience and practical insights to the sessions.
Over the five days, participants engaged in intensive sessions on leadership influence, organisational resilience, excellence-driven growth, ownership in a rapidly changing healthcare industry, decision-making under uncertainty and conflict management.
The retreat also incorporated practical case studies, interactive exercises, team-building activities and bonding sessions designed to strengthen collaboration, trust, communication and innovative thinking among members of the expanded management team.
The sessions were facilitated by renowned leadership experts, including the Lead Consultant, Dr. Dankishiya Saleh Hadi, and the President and Chief Executive Officer of BlueSpring Consulting and Training Ltd., Dr. Viktor Kuchili.
Their presentations challenged participants to rethink conventional approaches to leadership, embrace continuous improvement and develop the confidence required to lead effectively in an increasingly complex healthcare environment.
As the retreat ended, participants departed with renewed purpose, strengthened professional relationships and a shared commitment to building a more resilient, responsive and performance-driven PLASCHEMA.
