Nigeria seeks international support to empower IDPs

In a significant move to strengthen Nigeria’s humanitarian response, the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda met with key international development organizations in Doha to explore impactful partnerships aimed at supporting vulnerable groups across Nigeria.
During high-level engagements with the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), Education Above All Foundation (EAA), and Qatar Charity, the Minister introduced the Renewed Hope for Vulnerable Groups Support Initiative — a flagship program under the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administrationThe discussions centred around collaborative efforts to empower Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Nigeria through integrated interventions. These include food assistance for the displaced persons, the implementation of durable livelihood solutions, and the provision of vocational and technology-focused skills training leading to job placement.
Prof. Yilwatda emphasized that these partnerships are critical to advancing sustainable humanitarian and development solutions that target restoring dignity and self-reliance among displaced populations.The meetings in Doha mark a milestone in Nigeria’s commitment to broadening international cooperation to address humanitarian challenges through innovation, shared responsibility, and strategic development.
