In a CAF Confederation Cup play-off game on Wednesday, Nigeria’s Rivers United destroyed Libya’s Al Nasr 5-0, and Plateau United destroyed Al Akhdar 4-1.
At the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, coach Stanley Eguma’s team dominated proceedings from the get-go and was rewarded just 12 minutes in with an Ebube Duru goal.
Just two minutes later, Kazie Enyinnaya defeated the goalie of Al Nasr to give Rivers United a two-goal lead. The club scored another goal just before halftime, and Ghanaian midfielder Paul Acquah added his name to the scorer’s list.
As the score reached 4-0, Duru scored once more in the 64th minute to make it four. Eight minutes later, a goal by Malachi Ohawume gave the Nigerian champions a convincing victory.
On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, in Libya, the rematch will take place. The Pride of Rivers will aim to finish the task. The winner of both matches will be guaranteed a spot in the second-tier club football league on the continent. The game will take place in Libya’s Benghazi at the Martyrs Stadium.
