The Senator Pam Mwadkon Dachungyang National Badminton Competition has kicked off in Jos, the Plateau State Capital.
The competition has so far drawn over 200 players from eleven states including host, Plateau State. A breakdown shows that not less than twelve sports men and women made up each state contingent while Plateau State accounted for over eighty players drawn from ten badminton clubs within the State.
Mrs Mary Pam, wife of the Distinguished Senator Pam Dachungyang who represented her husband at the opening ceremony promised that Senator Dachungyang is poised to do more in the area of sports to ensure that the youthful population is adequately engage in useful ventures.
“From what I have seen today, I think that badminton is a beautiful game that improves hand-eye coordination, focus and attention, physical and mental strength, decision making skills and makes players physically and mentally fit.”
She noted that in 2024, the Distinguished Senator sponsored the biggest cycling competition ever witnessed in Plateau State where hundreds of cyclists turned out and many went home with several prizes, a gesture she says Senator Dachungyang will continue to carry out.
Chairman, Plateau State Badminton Association, Mr Emmanuel Gomam was full of praises to Senator Pam Dachungyang for his invaluable contribution to sports development not just in Plateau North, but the State and country in general.
The Wife of the Senator, according to a statement released by the Senators Special Adviser on Media, Eric Dung indicates that she was accompanied to the event by Aides of the Distinguished Senator among others.
