An aggrieved governorship aspirant, Abubakar Achimugu, has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to disqualify Ahmed Ododo, who emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Kogi State.
Achimugu, in his suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/584/2023, is contending that Ododo is not eligible to contest in the November 11, 2023 governorship poll for not resigning his employment with the Kogi State public service at least 30 days before taking part in the APC governorship primaries, which he won.
During Tuesday’s proceedings, the plaintiff’s counsel, Josiah Daniel-Ebune, informed the court of an application dated and filed May 12, wherein it is seeking leave of the court to amend the Originating Summons.
The request, which was not opposed by the defence counsel, was granted.
Subsequently, Justice Obiora Egwatu adjourned till June 14, for the hearing even as he ordered the plaintiff to serve hearing notice on the Independent National Electoral Commission.
