The Katsina State Government has unveiled plans to invest N36.2 billion in constructing a 54.7-kilometre road connecting Kadanya-Kunduru-Radda-Tsakatsa-Ganuwa, spanning Charanchi and Kankia Local Government Areas.
The project is set for completion within 18 months, according to Governor Mallam Dikko Umar Radda.
The governor, speaking at the Emir of Katsina’s Palace during the flag-off ceremony, disclosed that the budget includes road construction and compensation for affected landowners.
He also noted that N14 billion, representing 40% of the project sum, has been disbursed to Stan Tech Engineering Construction Company to mobilise the project.
“This road will serve as a vital connectivity link, addressing infrastructural gaps that have hindered economic activities, access to education and healthcare, and the movement of agricultural produce.
“It symbolises hope, progress, and a brighter future for our communities,” Radda said, urging residents to safeguard the project from vandalism.
In his remarks, the state’s Commissioner of Works, Housing, and Transport, Sani Ingawa, confirmed the road would span seven electoral wards, including Kunduru in Kankia Local Government.
He assured stakeholders of the ministry’s dedication to quality execution.
Meanwhile, Stan Tech Engineering Managing Director, Mr. Lee, thanked the government for the opportunity and reported that land clearance and sand filling had begun, although progress was briefly delayed by farm produce evacuations.
The road project is expected to enhance economic and social development in the region, he noted.
