Despite singing Victor Osimhen’s praises, Turkish football journeyman warned Galatasaray not to sign the Nigerian.
Former Trabzonspor manager Yilmaz Vural sang the praises of Victor Osimhen, emphasising the Nigerian’s qualities; however, he warned Galatasaray not to sign the Nigerian permanently.
Galatasaray’s ambitious plan
Initially thought to be a mere, opportune loan deal when the Nigerian failed to seal a move to a desired European club last summer, Galatasaray have had a taste of the Nigerian’s magic, and they want it all for themselves.
According to multiple reports and even public comments from high-ranking members of the club, the Cim-Bom want to enter into negotiations with Napoli to sign the 25-year-old on a permanent deal.
Osimhen’s release clause currently stands at €75 million, and Napoli have stated unequivocally that they would not budge on that price. And should Galatasaray indeed bag the Nigerian, they will have to go way beyond their €18 million transfer record.
What Yilmaz said
Yilmaz, who has spent the entirety of his 35-year career coaching through around 30 clubs in Turkey, weighed in on the possibility of the champions signing Osimhen.
While the 71-year-old spoke glowingly of Osimhen, he discouraged the club from continuing for the former Royal Charleroi man due to the sizable financial outlay the deal will require. Instead, he advised them to target budget options in the Super Lig.
“Victor Osimhen is a magnificent footballer,” Yilmaz said, per Brila. “He can pass people with his dribble, he has incredible control over aerial balls. He is a real centre forward and his technical and physical characteristics are very good.
“However, 75 million Euros is really too much. Our big teams like Galatasaray should acquire names like Barış Alper Yılmaz and Kerem Aktürkoğlu from the lower leagues.”
