AC Milan have made a second offer to Chelsea for Christian Pulisic with a bid worth up to €22million (£18.9m).
Pulisic has already agreed terms with the Serie A giants is just waiting on the two clubs to agree on a fee after the Blues rejected a £11.9m offer last week.
This new bid is closer to their valuation of the USA international who has just one year left on his contract, but may not be enough in light of what Lyon have offered for him.
The Ligue 1 side entered the race for the winger last weekend with a £21.5m bid which includes performance add-ons – an offer Chelsea would have been content to accept had Pulisic not informed them that he only has eyes for Milan.
Reports suggest that Mauricio Pochettino’s side would be reluctant to accept a fee lower than what Lyon bid but with the player and club wishing to part ways they may have little choice in the matter.
The Blues have already raised over £188m in player sales this summer, with Mason Mount’s transfer to Manchester United the latest in their mass clear out.
Milan have already signed Ruben Loftus-Cheek from the west London club and alongside Pulisic are also weighing up a move for fellow winger Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The Italians have shopped at Stamford Bridge a number of times over the past few years, acquiring the likes of Olivier Giroud, Fikayo Tomori and Tiemoue Bakayoko.
Pulisic signed for Chelsea from Dortmund for £58m back in 2019, and has gone on to win the Champions League, Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup.
However, he never established himself as a regular in the first-team under Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter, with injuries hampering his game-time.
In all, the 24-year-old has made 47 goal contributions in 145 games for the Blues, and last season he scored just once in 30 appearances, with just 10 of those being starts.
