As NUJ Plateau State Council begins activities to marks 2025 Press Week, Journalists have been urged to unite and promote peace as well prioritize developmental reportage.

Speaking at the opening of activities marking the week, the Plateau State Council NUJ Chairman, Comrade Ayuku Pwaspo said the union want to set a pace for Peace and unity in the state.

In her words, “the purpose of this is to set an agenda for Plateau State. We want to see unity in Plateau…. We want Plateau to restore her lost glory. We want to see businesses driving again in Plateau.”She appreciated stakeholders present at the event and the government of Plateau State for it’s continued support to the council and members for their turn out.

Hon. Matthew Kwarpo, member representing Mangu South in the Plateau State House of Assembly and Chairman House Committee on Information who also participated in the walk in solidarity, appreciated the support of the Journalists to the 10th Assembly, saying without them their report will not be heard.

He said Plateau NUJ is unique and urged them to continue the good work they are doing by reporting news that are developmental, news that is constructive and news that will bring lasting peace in the state.The General Manager of Plateau Radio and Television Cooperation, PRTV, Mrs. Kachallom Pam said Journalists as the voice of the people can cause change through their reportage to have a peaceful Plateau.Top on the lists of activities lineup for the press week are High-Level Colloquium which will hold at Crispan Hotel, where the Gbong Gwom Jos, His Royal Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba, will deliver a keynote address on the theme: “Plateau: What Next After the Crossroads.” A Juma’at Prayer at the Jos Central Mosque Frida, followed by a 5-Aside Novelty Football Match and Aerobics Session as well as a Cultural Day showcasing Plateau and Nigeria’s rich diversity through traditional dishes and cultural displays at the NUJ Press Centre.The week-long celebration will climax on Sunday, with a Thanksgiving Service at Living Faith Church Headquarters, British American Junction, Jos, Plateau State.
