The Lilywhites had a mixed campaign as they qualified for the 2025/26 edition of the Champions League following their win over Manchester United, but finished 17th in the Premier League with a record-breaking 22 defeats over the 38-game season.
Ultimately, those performances have proven to be worrying enough for chairman Daniel Levy to make a change in the dugout ahead of the new season, and the Australian will now depart north London after two seasons in charge with the club confirming their decision in a statement.

Replacements being lined up
Postecoglou admitted after the Europa League final victory that he hoped to stay at the club for a third season, telling fans at the victory parade that “season three is always better than season two”.
However, he now won’t be given that opportunity at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and will leave the club, with Levy now looking at replacements in the dugout.
Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is considered to be one of the top targets for the role, but the Spaniard is expected to stay with the Cherries and could sign a new contract at the Vitality Stadium. Should that change, he will be high on the list. Marco Silva was another manager considered for the role, but he confirmed after the end of the Premier League season that he would be staying at Fulham for next season.
Brentford boss Thomas Frank is now the man considered to be a leading contender for the job, with the Danish coach having a £9million release clause that is unlikely to be a stumbling block in negotiations. He has already met Daniel Levy several times.
Marseille manager Roberto Di Zerbi was also considered but he is now expected to stay with the French side as there is no release clause in his contract due to French law, while Inter Milan also enquired about his availability following Simone Inzaghi’s move to Al-Hilal.
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner was another being considered, but their FA Cup win secured them European football for next season, and he has since confirmed he will also be staying at Selhurst Park for next year. RB Leipzig also showed an interest in the Austrian.
Spurs will now be looking to make a swift appointment ahead of the new season, with a busy summer transfer window expected with several first-team stars likely to be moved on to make room for new signings.
