A Nigerian man has taken to social media to shower praises on a police officer who went out of his way to assist him when his car broke down along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
In a post shared via the platform X, formerly known as Twitter, the user identified as @Akinskickers recounted how his vehicle developed a fault while he was taking his mother to the airport early in the morning.
Stranded and in need of help, a police officer identified as Mr Yusuf came to his rescue.
According to him, Mr Yusuf not only called a mechanic for him but also handed him ₦20,000 in cash without asking any questions when he realized he had no cash to pay the mechanic.
The man also noted that the officer stayed with them throughout the ordeal, used his call credit to monitor the mechanic’s whereabouts, and even persuaded a friend to help transport his mother and sister to Lagos free of charge so they wouldn’t miss their flight.
In addition, the generous officer gave some money to area boys in the vicinity and declined to accept any extra cash when the man offered to add to the amount he was lent.
He further revealed that Mr Yusuf even offered his car battery to help start the man’s vehicle when the mechanic suggested renting one.
“God bless you wherever you are, Mr Yusuf. You’re not just an officer, but a gallant Mopol with a heart of gold,” the grateful man wrote.
He concluded by calling for more officers like Mr Yusuf on Nigerian roads, describing him as “an angel sent to help.”
