Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has revealed his intention to see Russian President Vladimir Putin, dead.
Zelensky’s remarks came as he addressed the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which has resulted in significant loss of life, including children.
“I’m the father, I’m the president, it’s so difficult to lose people. It’s so difficult to lose children. And of course, you know, you see these children are dying or dead, so you want to kill Putin at this moment. And of course, all of us, we want it very much,” Zelensky said on Tuesday, ahead of a NATO summit in Washington.
Zelensky’s comments were made in response to a recent attack on a hospital, which he believes was deliberately targeted by Russia.
“The missile was exactly to the hospital, it’s not the first time. Do you think that it was meant to strike the day?” Zelensky asked.
As the conflict enters its 16th month, Zelensky is seeking increased support from NATO to change the course of the war. He urged the alliance to provide more weapons, money, and security guarantees to Ukraine.
Zelensky will meet with Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson, an ally of former President Donald Trump, at the Capitol on Wednesday.
Ukraine’s ultimate goal is to join NATO to secure protection against future Russian attacks. Zelensky attended parts of the NATO summit as a guest, where he made his case for increased support and membership in the alliance.
