National Anthem will restore Nigeria's lost glory - Reps Deputy Spokesperson

Newsmen reports that the Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Hon. Musa Abdullahi, has expressed confidence that the reintroduction of Nigeria’s old national anthem, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee,” will play a significant role in restoring the country’s lost glory and fostering national unity.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Abdullahi highlighted the symbolic importance of the anthem, which he believes resonates deeply with the Nigerian populace, evoking a sense of pride and patriotism.

“The decision to revert to ‘Nigeria, We Hail Thee’ is not merely a nostalgic gesture but a strategic move to reignite the patriotic spirit that once defined us as a nation,” Abdullahi said. “This anthem reflects our shared values and aspirations, reminding us of the unity and strength that lie in our diversity.”

Abdullahi praised President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its bold decision, stating that the anthem encapsulates the ideals and visions of Nigeria’s founding fathers. He believes that its reintroduction will inspire citizens to work collectively towards national development and unity.

“The lyrics of ‘Nigeria, We Hail Thee’ are a call to all Nigerians to embrace our differences and work together for the common good. It is a reminder that despite our varied backgrounds, we are united in our desire for a prosperous and peaceful nation,” he added.

He also noted that the anthem would serve as a rallying cry for Nigerians, especially the youth, to take an active role in nation-building and contribute positively to society. According to Abdullahi, the anthem’s emphasis on brotherhood and unity is particularly timely given the current socio-political climate in the country.

“As we face various challenges, it is crucial that we find common ground and move forward as one people. The anthem will serve as a unifying force, encouraging every Nigerian to rise above individual interests and work towards the collective good,” Abdullahi emphasized.

He called on all Nigerians to embrace the anthem and the values it represents, urging schools, institutions, and organizations to adopt it in their official functions and ceremonies.

In concluding his statement, Abdullahi expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, stating that with unity and concerted efforts, the country could overcome its current challenges and achieve greatness.

“As we sing ‘Nigeria, We Hail Thee,’ let us remember the sacrifices of our heroes past and be inspired to contribute to the nation’s progress. Together, we can restore Nigeria’s lost glory and build a country that we can all be proud of,” he said.
