Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has been keeping himself fit ahead of a potential return to football.
De Gea left Old Trafford as a free agent last summer after contract talks failed to yield a new deal, and has failed to find a new club since that time.
The former Spain No.1 has continued training throughout that time, trying to stay fit for whenever the opportunity to return to the top level presents itself.
Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has faced backlash from the club’s fans after seemingly ruling out their chances in the upcoming Premier League title race.
De Gea ready for new club?
On Friday night, he posted a video on Instagram as he was put to work on a routine testing his reflexes and handling.
The video was filmed at the facilities of fifth-tier non-league side Altrincham.
There is no suggestion that De Gea is about to join the club, but the caption’s wording hinted at a long-awaited return to football in some capacity in the near future.
De Gea left Manchester United as their seventh all-time appearance maker, having played in 545 games.
