This information was disclosed by Mr. Bashir Ahmad in a post that he made on his official X handle on Thursday afternoon. The tweet was a response to the assertions that were made by some users of social media, claiming Lagos State is the eighth largest economy in Africa rather than the fifth largest. In addition, Mr. Bashir Ahmad referred to the state of Lagos as a country that is located in another foreign nation.

He wrote: “New data shows that if Lagos State were to become an independent country, it would rank as the fifth largest economy in Africa, not the eighth. A country within a country.”
