Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, told Brighton’s players that their manager Roberto De Zerbi will be his successor, according to the UK Telegraph.
De Zerbi has impressed in the Premier League since he took over from Graham Potter 13 months ago.
The Italian led the Seagulls to a sixth-placed finish, securing European football for the first time in the club’s history.
Brighton are also widely regarded as one of the most eye-catching sides in England’s topflight.
It has now been revealed after City played at the Amex Stadium in May, Guardiola was speaking of a few of the Brighton players in the tunnel when he nodded in De Zerbi’s direction and said, “that’s the next Man City manager”.
De Zerbi is “greatly admired” at the Etihad, although Guardiola could still extend his contract which expires in 2025.
