The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), National Leader, PWDs, Tolu Bankole has joined other Nigerians to congratulate President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima on their victory at the 2023 Presidential Elections Petitions Court.
A judgement delivered on Wednesday by the five-man panel of the PEPT led by Haruna Tsammani, held that the case brought before it by Peter Obi of Labour Party, and Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party lacks merit, thereby upholding the victory of President Tinubu in the Feb 25 Presidential election.
Bankole while reacting to the verdict in a statement he personally signed said the judgement is equally a commendation on the Independent National Electoral Commission’, (INEC’s) credible and nonpartisan conduct of presidential poll under most challenging circumstances.
He said, “I extend this courtesy to all the lord Justices of the Presidential Election Petitions Court for exhibiting uncommon courage in the face of extreme cyber stalking, harassment and threats orchestrated by the enemies of democracy to bully the judiciary.
“Their rising above board, incorruptibility and insistence on the rule of law must be applauded.
“I must also thank, most profoundly, the media and civil society groups for unbiased interrogation and reportage of the whole process.
“Today’s judgement is equally a commendation on the INEC’s credible and nonpartisan conduct of presidential poll under most challenging circumstances.
Bankole urged Atiku Abubakar of Peoples Democratic party (PDP) and Peter Obi of Labour Party (LP) to prioritize patriotism above playing to the gallery.
“This is the time that all hands must be on deck to surmount the challenges currently faced by the country. There should be no difficulty for them to join hands with the renewed hope government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu if their focus is indeed service to the people.
“This victory offers Mr President a rare chance given freely by the people to tackle headlong myriads of socioeconomic challenges confronting the country and deliver the renewed hope promised Nigerians without distractions.”
